Today myself and Wayne from PAG went to YZ Circuit
Well the day started off really well. We met eachother on Route 19 that goes half way to YZ from Nagoya towards Tajimi City, had a quick coffee and filled up the cars…My S14 Silvia and Waynes TE71 Corolla. Got to the circuit around 1.30pm, signed on. Paid 円4,000 for 2 hours driving. Got our kit on, pumped up the TE’s tyres to 4bar and waited for the announcement that the circuit was open. As I anxiously crept out of the pit lane and stuck the TE’s nose over the entrance to the main straight, I jammed the throttle open and roared out onto the circuit. 5 minutes later I was black flagged when the pistons did the bald headed moon dance all over the valves. Ooops! Engine blow.
Slow journey back to Wayne’s AE86 geek mate’s garage to drop the old girl off for some TLC. As I was driving when it blew I feel a bit guilty so maybe I’ll be doing the engine swap myself next week. Throttle bodies and ECU setup now for sale. We’re going a different route on the engine next time.
